We want to help you reduce the risk of mistakes with your medicines.  Keeping your medications straight can be confusing for you and the people you care for. That’s understandable given the thousands of different medicines, pill sizes, and countless combinations of doses and instructions. We have a simple solution. We have created an easy-to-follow calendar that helps you organize and take your prescriptions. You can match your actual pills to pictures on the calendar according to the time and day you need to take them. It’s simple to make changes whenever they come up. The calendar can be viewed on your computer or as a print-out.

The calendar is especially helpful if you see different doctors in different settings or get your medicines from different pharmacies.  It will help you keep track of your pills, reduce the risk of mistakes, and may even save you money.

History

In 2009, Wes discovered that a patient taking a dozen different medications was making a number of errors. He decided there must be a better way. He created some simple paper charts for the patient to keep track of his meds and for Wes to monitor.

The idea quickly expanded. Many patients aren't computer savvy, and Wes's patients wanted a paper calendar to match up their pills. With George's help, we mocked up a simple program to show the names of the pills, what they do, and pictures of them on the actual day when patients need to take them. Wouldn't it be great if we could make the program accessible from the web so the patient can make changes as they occur? And wouldn't it be great if we could see the calendar online wherever the patient is, like convalescent homes, or dialysis centers? phot by HollywoodPimpWhy couldn't we make the calendar available on the web so we can make changes when we see the patients where they are, rather than just at the office? So, we've uploaded the system to the web so we can update the secure information where you, the patient, are.

The patients who do the best with their meds are already in charge of them, the refills and the schedules. Often they create there own charts. Why not take the best and make it available to everyone for a nominal cost? Many pharmacies and drug providers also provide systems for medication reminders. Often these are cluttered with advertisements, and the reminders feed back your drug information to marketing firms. Why not develop a service that doesn't rely on pharmaceutical, insurance or other companies that have a 'stake' in what medicines you take?

Many patients are on drugs that are patented ("trade") and off-patent ("generic"). This is a big challenge because there are no Federal rules requiring that pills containg the same ingredient or amount look the same. Wouldn't it be great if the system could include all of these medicines? We are learning how to do this and believe it makes this system standout from others.

How Can We Make A Difference?

We think this system will vastly reduce mistakes that often result when people are on multiple medications.   You as a patient will “own” your own medication calendars. You give permission to the important people in your medical lives to change and update the calendar.  Your doctor, your children, your parents and any others you allow can all help manage your medicines in one convenient place.
